The Tujenge Scholars program starts with a foundation term to help every scholar develop the baseline English, math, and technology proficiency to successfully navigate the following terms. This eighteen-week term is split into two eight-week half-terms, separated by a one-week spring break to give students a break from coursework and give them the opportunity to decompress and prepare for the rest of the term.

The foundation English curriculum takes up the bulk of scholars’ time, while math and computer literacy courses are taught once per day. With an emphasis on reading skills, students finish the foundation term ready to engage with a summer exploration term curriculum steeped in critical thinking.
